My Favorite Photo Location,
A number of years ago my wife and I went to the Great Sand Dunes
in
Colorado. In the late afternoon and early evening the sand dunes
take on a
special beauty with flowing shadows and highlights that are continuously
changing. The eye and mind is bathed in artistic shapes and forms.
The color and tonality of the light is warmed and the shadows are
opened by the light reflecting off the sand surfaces. Blowing sand
can create interesting halos around people, wipes the sand surfaces
clean of tracks and
creates undulating waves.
When no wind blows, a myriad of foot tracks tell a story of the
of people
trekking through this interesting area. You become aware of the
size of
these dunes when you see people walking along the dune ridges or
climbing the dune faces.
Here are a few images that shows the enjoyment that the Dunes have
given to
me.
